The Franklin County Republican Committee Calls On Governor Shapiro to Follow the Law and Complete the PA Election Count on November 5th

19 October 2024

At the recent Franklin County Republican Committee (FCRC) meeting, information was presented regarding PA Secretary of State Schmidt's announcement that the PA election may not be called on election night although this is required by law.  "When you have half of your voters vote by mail, like we did in 2020, counting those votes takes time," Schmidt said.  In response, FCRC Chairman Fred Young and committeepersons representing 72 county precincts addressed a letter to Governor Shapiro.  The FCRC is also inviting the remaining 66 county Republican committees to communicate their concern that Pennsylvania may not be providing the resources to ensure that state election law is followed.  The content of FCRC's letter, signed by Chairman Fred Young III on behalf of the FCRC Executive Committee to Governor Shapiro is shown below.

Voting is the most precious right of every citizen, and we have a moral obligation to ensure the integrity of our voting process.

                 -Hillary Clinton

Committee member, Vicki Shoap, led an election integrity project that was a part of a multi-county effort to reach Pennsylvania residents, who records show, moved out of state.  Over 2500 former Franklin County residents were identified.  For the protection of these individuals' votes and for the protection of the PA vote, volunteers and committee members assisted in reaching out to these individuals in order to ask them if they wished to be removed from PA's voter roll and provided them information they need to do so.  The effectiveness of this effort will continue to be monitored.

FCRC is Under New Leadership

July 9, 2022

CHAMBERSBURG, PA: During the FCRC’s most recent reorganizational meeting, the elected members of the Franklin County Republican Committee appointed a new Executive Committee.

Fred Young III was elected chairman. Young is a self-employed businessman, an elected Antrim Township Supervisor, and an active member of the community. He and his wife, Mary Ann reside in Antrim Township and have several children.

John Flannery was elected vice chairman. Flannery was elected as a Franklin County Commissioner in 2019, and owned and operated several successful restaurants in Franklin County. He and his wife, Ame reside in Guilford Township.

Janon Gray was elected treasurer. Gray was recently elected to the Greencastle-Antrim Board of School Directors, and was appointed treasurer of that board. Janon has over 25 years of experience in accounting, finance and business.

Chris Ardinger was elected secretary. Ardinger is the executive director of the Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce, former chairman of the Franklin County Young Republicans, and is active on several boards and committees across the county. He resides in Montgomery Township.

In addition, Stewart McCleaf was elected to the role of assistant secretary and Robert Wertime to the role of assistant treasurer. Regional captains and at-large executive committee members were also elected during this annual reorganizational meeting.

The purpose of the FCRC is to promote Republican values, register Republican voters and to support national, state and local Republican candidates.

According to Young, “I am excited to get started, we have an incredible team of leaders within the party and are looking forward to the future. Our goal is to better engage and encourage fellow Republicans around the county, work with our elected officials, candidates and the state committee, and continue to promote Republican ideals and values for the success of our nation.”
